Wood High School, the Home of Scholars, Artists and
Champions, is located in the southwest community of
Chinook Park and Kelvin Grove, serving the communities of
Bayview, Bel-Aire, Braeside, Britannia, Cedarbrae, Chinook
Park, Eagle Ridge, Elboya, Haysboro, Kelvin Grove,
Kingsland, Manchester, Mayfair, Meadowlark Park, Oakridge,
Palliser, Pumphill, Windsor Park, Woodbine, and Woodlands.

the School

The
school was built in 1961 and is situated on 13.77 acres. A
recent modernization of the school upgraded many of our
facilities that now include a Library and research centre,
several networked computer labs, large bright classrooms,
3 gymnasiums, a drama room, a band room, a dance studio
and a Fitness Centre.

School Name
|
The
school is named after Henry Wise Wood, an Alberta pioneer,
who was born in 1860 in Missouri, USA. Henry Wise Wood
moved to Alberta in 1905 and became a Canadian citizen in
1909. He was instrumental in forming the Alberta Wheat
Pool and the United Farmers of Alberta. Henry Wise Wood is
regarded as one of the most influential individuals in
Canadian agricultural and farming history.
